This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I aim to master painting techniques in watercolor and gouache to enhance my art teaching stills to better support my AP art students. To achieve this, I plan to practice these techniques during my non-work hours and seek support through DonorsChoose to acquire the necessary materials. After honing my skills, I will share these resources with my students, allowing them to benefit from my experience. While I have some background with these mediums, I am eager to achieve mastery to provide a higher level of instruction.

I believe that practice does make perfect, and having access to materials to practice will make me a better art teacher.

Utilizing books will further aid my understanding of basic techniques, which I can keep in my AP class for student access. The choice of watercolor paper, including different sizes and presses, significantly influences painting styles. The extra materials acquired will be invaluable in my AP classroom, supporting my students' artistic development and encouraging them to explore these mediums creatively.
