Goals for This Project:

To equip students with effective phonics manipulatives that support evidence-based instruction, enhance their phonemic awareness, and build strong reading skills. This project aims to create an engaging, interactive learning environment that fosters literacy development.

At College Gate Elementary, my 1st graders are a diverse and vibrant group, representing backgrounds such as Alaska Native, Hmong, Samoan, Pacific Islander, Caucasian, African-American, and Latino. Their diversity, combined with their eagerness to learn, enriches our classroom environment. They are energetic and curious, thriving in a hands-on learning setting where manipulatives like those from hand2mind are essential. By providing these resources, we are investing in their literacy growth and ensuring they have the tools they need to become confident readers. Their unique cultural perspectives and genuine curiosity make our classroom dynamic and engaging.
