My students need an accurate electronic balance to complete their AP Chemistry labs.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Tolley's classroom raised $409

My Students
An accurate balance is critical to the development of excellent laboratory skills for my AP Chemistry students. They would love to be able to compare their results with those found in established literature!
Our school is located in West Virginia in an area historically made up of farmland.
A significant portion of the farms are giving way to subdivisions for those who would like an easy commute to work.
Most of my students come to school literally before school starts to learn AP Chemistry. They range from affluent (for our area) to poor but they have in common a thirst for knowledge. They are incredibly bright, dedicated and hard working.
Most of them hope to pursue careers in medical, engineering and science fields so they are very serious about their science education. They volunteer in the community and come in at lunch to hear science lectures.
My Project
Even excellent students are more engaged doing hands on work. AP Chemistry allows for hands-on that is definitely minds on too! My students will learn to accurately measure mass with a good balance. This will enable them to complete labs that require "gravitational analysis" as prescribed by the college board.
My students will use this balance not only this year, but also for many years to come!
It will impact their AP Chemistry scores and their grades and better prepare them for college. These donations will aid in the purchase of a balance that will be used repeatedly for many, many laboratory experiments!
