This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a collected group of movers, thinkers, ponderers, and academic explorers. They all have bright minds and are ready to take their own personal experiences and share them with the outside world. They are at the age where they are realizing just how big the world is and what exactly their place is. This becomes more difficult living in a city that many have pushed aside and labeled as a ghetto. Many of them are just finding their voices and refuse to allow society to label them or shut them out.

They all come into the classroom either during school or in our after-school programs with their own passions and dreams, ready to explore the world around them.

They know that they can bring an idea into our classroom and we will find a way to make it happen. This wouldn't be possible without DonorsChoose!

Living in a city where the social and political climate is constantly changing and often not in their best interest, my students are ready to speak for their communities and make a difference.

My Project

Help give my students fresh masks that are comfortable to wear. The cloth masks tend to get damp over the course of the day when they are talking to their peers. Finding the right mask that the students feel comfortable with has been a task.

We have tried out a lot of companies these past two school years but my students all love the We Care masks that come in different colors.

Having a box of masks that the students can go to and change out instead of wearing their masks under their noses or chin when they are uncomfortable has been a game-changer and this project will help us get to the end of the year.
