Marvelous Simple Machines for Teaching Kids Science and Engineering
My students need science experiment kits as they study simple machines, rocks and engage in STEM classroom activities and labs.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a fifth grade departmentalized teacher, what I love about my students is that they are old enough to speak like adults yet still young enough to be fun, silly and very imaginative. They are not afraid to ask challenging questions, and can understand some abstract ideas.
I love that my students make me laugh.
I'm impressed how they manage to think of funny things to say while learning new facts. For example, when they are asked to make connections in Social Studies or Science on a test and they aren't able to recall what they've learned, they write something funny so as not to leave the question blank.
My Project
The concept of simple machines can become more interesting with the right materials. These machine activity kits will motivate the students to participate and engage as they are introduced to the six types of simple machines in gaining high level insights into tools that have been used since ancient times and are still in use today.
The students learn how such devices help engineers improve our society and how important they are to our world today.
Engineers use these devices on a daily basis and provide them with added tools for solving everyday challenges when building houses, bridges, skyscrapers and countless other structures.
Your donation will help my students become interested in what engineering is all about and possibly plan for a future in engineering. They will be able to use what they learn to accomplish some amazing feats to solve real world challenges!
