My students need a Place Value kit, Money kit, Operations Hands-On Teaching Kit, Read About Math Learning Centers, Early Math Bingo Games, Counting Money Puzzles, and Magnetic Big Money.
I have a wonderful class of 20 Second Graders this year in California, who are extremely eager to learn! I believe that all children can learn and that it is my responsibility, as an educator, to provide students with equal opportunities to learn. Our school believes that by empowering our students, we provide them with opportunities to become successful members of society. 78% of students who attend my school are students of poverty and 50% of students in my class are second language learners. This is why we need your help in providing a variety of developmentally appropriate learning experiences to give my students a fair chance at being successful!
At my school, we are extremely limited with supplies. Since I have such a passion for my students to become successful readers, I have already started a classroom library, learning centers, and reading games for them that I have personally funded. Given the diversity in the classroom today, it is essential for me to provide a variety of hands-on learning opportunities for my students.
Through the requested supplies, my students will have a wonderful opportunity to excel in the area of Mathematics. Since the majority of my students are English Language Learners, they need to experience math through hands-on activities throughout the day in as many fun and exciting ways as possible. Many English Language Learners tend to fall behind in the area of Mathematics because they are not provided with sufficient hands-on learning experiences.
My students need the Place Value, Money, and Operations Hands-On Teaching Kit so that they will be able to follow along at their desks while I demonstrate concepts about place value, money, and operations on the SMART board. My students need the Read About Math Learning Centers and the Early Math Bingo Games so that they can have fun while they are learning about money, time, measurement, and geometry. My students also need the Counting Money Puzzles and the Magnetic Big Money so that they can make sums of money, learn the values of coins and bills, and learn about different money combinations. Through the requested supplies, students will be involved in hands-on learning experiences so that they will truly understand the skills and concepts that are being taught.
