Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Every day at morning meeting we share how we are feeling that day and why. The majority of my students say they are happy because they are in school. We also share a goal for the day. Again, most of my students say their goal is to get better at reading (or math, or science). They all receive a free breakfast at school, and most of them receive free lunch as well. We are a neighborhood school, and most walk to school with their parents or older siblings. They are truly a great group of kids that want to learn despite some of the daily hardships they may encounter.
My Project
The Making Tens Value Pack will offer visual support to understand number bonds for 10. This is a foundation for students to be able to understand math facts, and also help them build fluency.
The Sensational Math Number-Bond Activity Cards - Multiplication and Division will be used to make it easier for students to see relationships between numbers, instead of just memorizing flash cards.
It will help them build fluency and gain number sense.
The Number Bonds Visual Models Activity Kit is a fun way for students to review and reinforce what they have learned.
The clipboards will be used so students may comfortably work in groups or pairs in other areas of the classroom without having to sit at a desk or table.
