My students need new math games that they can play in small groups to practice the different strands of the math curriculum. WE need Math, decimal operations grids and more.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
What was your most memorable year in elementary school? What made it so special? What made it so unique? That is what I am trying to do with my students.
My 5th grade students attend school on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
My school is a Title One school and my children struggle each day. Despite all that, I have a fantastic group of students. My students are very creative and love to read, tell stories, and play games that enhance their learning.
My Project
My students need these new math games so they can practice the math skills they need to become successful. Materials are limited in my school and these new math games will be just the trick to get my students where they need to be.
I want my students to feel successful in math.
Math is not going away. The more help they receive, the more successful they will feel. We need our students to feel confident, and these math games will give them the boost they need.
When students play math games, they revisit the previously learned concepts and practice their skills. Learning by playing is the best way to instill learning in children.
