I teach first graders in a Title One, New York City public school. Students lack the basic foundations of math when entering the early childhood classroom. In order to engage children in fun and hands on learning experiences children need math activities.
With the severe budget cuts in New York City, especially the NYC school system it is very difficult to get materials needed to teach lessons. As a teacher, I need to differentiate instruction so that all academic levels of children learn to the best of their ability.
Early childhood is the foundation of learning. All children learn different ways. These hand-on math manipulatives will help visual and tactile learners. Children love to play games. What better way to learn math concepts by playing to learn. These items will give my children a great foundation for life long skills.
This is your chance to help me and make a difference in the lives of many children. By helping me teach my children, you will be helping my children gain confidence in math and enjoy learning. Every child deserves a chance to have a fun, successful learning experience.
