Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a first grade teacher in a low-income, high-poverty school district in the South Bronx. My class is filled with vibrant, eager learners who require a variety of ways to learn. About seventy-five percent of my students are performing below grade level. Many of my students live in shelters, receive out-of-classroom services for speech, reading, and math, and are English language learners or have an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP).
My students face many challenges each day and deserve nothing short of the best to help them reach their full potential and beyond.
For many of them, I am the only comfort, security, and positive source in their life. I want to make my students feel welcomed, appreciated, loved, and know that they can do anything they put their minds to!
My Project
I am requesting gift cards to help motivate our students to learn their math facts. We want to celebrate them and motivate them to become excellent mathematicians and fluency experts. We want to get our students back on track with learning and memorizing their math facts, improving math fluency and stamina. Math is everywhere and a part of everyday life.
I would like to provide gift cards to my students to encourage them to learn their math facts and improve their math fluency.
Despite the instructional time that has been missed during the past year, we want our students to know that they are loved, smart, and important. These gift cards will help to motivate our students to love learning and to do their best.
