My Students
My incredible students are smart, kind, fun, funny, and hard working first graders! Most live within a few blocks from our school, and they have a wide range of interests, needs, and backgrounds. Some of my students have two parents, and some have one. Some of my students have many books at their house, and some have very few. Some students live in housing projects near the school, and many others live in large houses.
My students are active, energetic, compassionate, and helpful.
They love to learn through games and movement. Most are eager to help each other learn, solve problems, and clean up. Although we are currently remote, our class feels like a family.
My Project
This year, our first grade team will begin learning the year learning remotely. Unfortunately, my school district does not have the funds to provide my students with any math tools other than a workbook. My students learn in a variety of ways, and these manipulatives will help each child to learn using her or his preferred method. Every student will get a math packet with hundreds blocks, cubes, a ruler, dice, and erasable problem solving charts. Our first graders will visualize, feel, and work with math. Funding this project will ensure that my students solve math problems by working with appropriate math tools from the safety of their homes.
