I teach fifth grade at a suburban school in Oklahoma. My students come from various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. They are a diverse and unique bunch. Each day, we strive to do the very best we can. We are a Title One school and a large percentage of our students qualify for free or reduced price lunch.

My Project
Small group math centers has been a vital part of my math instruction this year. Small group center time gives me an opportunity to work with students and give them an opportunity to explore mathematical concepts and skills.
I am requesting various manipulatives and books to enhance my small group centers.
The books will assist me in further implementing number talks in my small and whole group instruction. Number talks increase number sense, which is a vital skill. I am also requesting manipulatives such as fraction models, dice, MagnaTiles (to assist with geometric concepts), place value cans and measurement cans. These manipulatives will add another layer of engagement to my small groups and help my students explore math.
