This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a rural, Title I school district where most of my students are labeled as economically disadvantaged and are at risk of dropping out before graduation. This past year, some of my students were impacted by Hurricane Harvey as our county is prone to severe flooding.

Many of my students who are impacted by being homeless often come to school without basic supplies, experience hunger, and they are withdrawn and tend to draw attention away from them.

My students are eager to learn and grow in their mathematical journey each and every day; however, our lack of resources limits us.

My Project

I need these markers to allow my students to use my newly funded marker tables during small group and station activities. As of now I only have about ten markers and range with classes from twelve to twenty. I would love if this could be provided so I would have enough markers to last a school year. These markers will be used for small group stations and even when they want to work their problems out while working on their homework. My students have thoroughly enjoyed using the tables since having them and I want to be able to provided them the resources to keep using them throughout the year.
