Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In our low-income/high poverty school district where 100% of the students qualify for free lunch, my students are faced with many challenges both in and out of the classroom. To combat the many challenges they face, I am determined to provide and expose them to the technology and skills they need to succeed in the 21st century. They are curious, eager to learn, and desperate to please anyone who takes an interest! My students don't have technology at home so I'm looking to provide it in our classroom for them to experience. Keeping them engaged and learning new ways to incorporate technology is a goal.
My Project
First grade is all about participating in reading, writing and math! Giving students pop its to blend sounds would be a great way to keep their focus on phonics. Letting little fingers push slime as they say sounds to read words engages learners for longer periods of time. Having students create math stories using stickers helps them visualize their thinking.
I know my first graders would enjoy using markers to write, color and to show their thinking in math.
I would love to be able to add these enriching activities to my small groups each day.
