My Students

Arriving at school from low income rural homes, my students are faced with numerous challenges at home and in the classroom. Although students often feel defeated walking into my math class, I work hard to show all students they can succeed regardless of their circumstances by connecting math to their daily lives and implementing engaging activities.

Many of my students struggle to see a need for an education, especially math.

In addition, many students see math as “hard” and “pointless.” I work hard to change students’ mindset about school and their abilities by investing in each and every student so that they recognize their potential and celebrate every step of success.

I have a wonderful group of students that want to strive for more. It is my goal to encourage every student to be their best and to reach for more by equipping them with the tools needed to succeed.

My Project

Dry erase markers and personal dry erase boards allows students to better show their work when completing digital practice and digital assessments. Our school is 1:1 and my classroom is paperless. Technology is great; however, one of the biggest challenges the math classroom faces is teaching students to transfer their work from the computer to showing their steps. The key to success in my classroom has been using mini dry erase boards and markers. To help my students have plenty of markers to use during practice and test, I am asking for markers.

My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and more likely to work out each problem step by step when markers and dry erase boards are available.

The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them the tools they need for success in math. A few students will bring their own markers, but most can't afford to bring their own. Many of my students like to alternate between standing and sitting. The dry erase markers and erasers will help students use personal dry erase boards to show their work.

I have seen how giving students the necessary tools helps students succeed.
