This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work in an urban environment in Los Angeles. My students are predominately Latino and also English Learners. We are a very underfunded school with a great staff and administration. The parents of our students are amazing. I love my school. I have been here for 15 years straight out of college. I plan on staying my entire career here and giving as much to this community as I can.

We just need more...We need more time and more materials to close the achievement gap.

My Project

I use non permanent vertical surfaces in my classroom to help students explore new concepts and illuminate one another inside of topics that have already been discussed. This is a super open and transparent space where learning, not point getting, is the goal. I find that engagement is much less of an issue when we are on our feet discussing and showing our proof on these non permanent surfaces. The only problem is that I go through about 10 markers a week. So we need markers. I also asked for some spray to keep the boards nice and clean.

Please help purchase these white board markers and cleaner for my students.
