My Students

My fifth grade classroom is a place for students to learn the knowledge and skills they will need to be successful in the ever-changing world in which we live. My goal is to give the 71 students in my care the experiences and confidence they will need to face their futures.

I teach at a Title I school, where 70% of the students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.

Many of my students have never been outside of Northeastern Alabama. My school has a growing English language learner population. My students are kind, caring, and driven. They want to do well in school, but they face disadvantages due to the poverty in which they live.

My Project

Who likes to write with dry erase markers? My students certainly do! My students love working out their math problems on mini dry erase boards. It encourages them to work out their problems, and it helps me see their thinking by looking at their work on their dry erase board.

My students need dry erase markers to let them continue practicing their math skills on their dry erase boards.

My students use a computer program to practice their math skills. They use a Chromebook that takes up much of their desk space. To fix this limited space issue, I give my students mini dry erase boards that they can hold in their laps as they sit at their desk and work. Unfortunately, our dry erase markers have all dried up! We need new markers to allow us to continue working with our fun markers instead of using pencil and paper.
