My students are at an exciting point in life. They are in their first year of middle school! This new experience provides them with a renewed excitement for learning. I have the privilege of teaching math.
I would like to capitalize on my students' renewed joy for learning, by making math more engaging for them.
I have found that many students who previously felt they were "bad" at math and did not like it, enjoy it once they experience success.
My Project
I am planning for the upcoming school year and these materials will be very useful to my students. The electric sharpener stops to signal to the students that the pencil is sharpened, allowing them to return to the task at hand. The 3-hole punch allows students to easily prepare their papers to put in their binders.
Expo markers and microfiber cloths will be used with student whiteboards, making practicing examples fun for students!
This will allow the students to show their work in a different way. The dry erase boards are going to be a great way for students to show me quickly if they understand a concept. It will also allow me to provide an individual student with additional problems, if they need a little extra practice. In the past the student markers dried out quickly, but these click markers should last for a while!
