This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students deserve the chance to be creators and artists, regardless of their situation. The COVID pandemic severely affected my school community which was the epicenter of the US outbreak in April. They have experienced things no child should have to go through during this time and the outlet of art will therapeutically help students and find a creative outlet for their emotions.

Every student deserves the right to have access to art supplies that will help them be successful creators.

I want to be able to foster life long artists and art appreciators and any support will help give them a great foundation.

My Project

I work in a Title I school in NYC, right in the epicenter of the COVID outbreak back in April. Our city has chosen to follow a hybrid or blended model of learning, with cohorts of students on a rotating, in-person learning schedule and one cohort remaining full time remote. One thing that will help my students succeed as artists is to have both crayons and markers they can use to create art work, both with in person and remote learning.

Providing my students with these art supplies would help foster good creative habits and help them improve as artists.

My first grade students need materials that they can easily transport from home with remote learning, to school for in person learning. These art tools will be used for various projects during the year, from learning the elements of art to their own self portraits and more!
