This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My wonderful students come from the neighborhood around the school and are a delight to teach. We are a Title 1 school, and the boys and girls represent a diverse population. I love my position as the school librarian and enjoy seeing the classes once per week. I have a large variety of books that the students choose from when it is their turn to check out library books. We also have a nice collection of big books. We need Shelf Markers and a Big Book Easel to enhance our library environment.
My Project
Shelf Markers are used during library class to assist students when looking for just the right book. When students select books off the shelves, they place a Shelf Marker in the place where the books live on the shelves. This procedure assists the students to correctly place books back in their homes if the books are not just right.
We need Shelf Markers to hold our books’ correct shelf spaces and a Big Book Easel to store and display our big books.
I use a variety of big books with my younger students. We currently do not have an easel to put these books in or to display them. A big book easel would allow the students more access to the big books and it would be easier for the students to select big books to read.
