My students need 40+ Mark Twain 2012 nominee book titles to read so that they may complete a classroom project. We also need 2 book shelves to use in our reading center.
Do you remember reading an exciting book and wanting to share the title with others? Our classroom needs the current 2012 Mark Twain nominee award book titles to enrich our reading time and to complete a "book in the bag" book report project that includes a book recommendation presentation.
I teach reading to approximately 148 students.
My sixth grade students come in all shapes and sizes! They are from very diverse backgrounds, but have the need to be successful readers in common. My public middle school is in a suburban neighborhood in Missouri where Mark Twain was born.
My Project
Adding the 24 current 2012 Mark Twain nominee titles to our classroom will give my students opportunities to be successful in fulfilling the requirement of reading a Mark Twain award nominee. By making these titles available for my students to check out the book title and take it home with them will allow them to read at their own pace. It will also allow them to be prepared for the presentation piece of the project. We also need 2 book shelves to use in our reading center.
Reading is the key to student success!
No matter what path my students take in life, they will need to be good readers. I want to do everything that I can to make reading exciting for my students! Please help me in this endeavor!!
