Some students have not yet discovered books that capture their imaginations. This could be the year that magic happens and they fall in love with books.
I have not met my students for the upcoming school year, but I am excited to show them the magic of reading.
My Project
The Mark Twain Nominees will help not only my 75 students, but another 150 students explore literature in a safe environment. In the 6th grade hallway, we will utilize these books to enhance the literature in the classroom. These books will encourage digging deeper into Literature. Our students will be able to have true book talks where they will learn to dig deeper into a book by making predictions, connections, and analyze the characters. Students will understand what makes the parts of a story through reading and discussing the story with their peers. They will also be building their vocabulary with each book they read by responding in written form in their Reading Logs. Students will grow intellectually and socially through reading and discussing their thoughts and opinions over their books.
Your donation to this project will hopefully encourage reading in my classroom.
Students will be able to take ownership in their Reading and Writing through the few projects listed above and many more of their choice. Students' lives will be better because they will build the confidence to discuss what they have read, and practice their listening skills through discussions. This will encourage their social skills in their future careers. Thank you for helping my students succeed!
