This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from across the globe and face enormous challenges. We are a high poverty school, over 80% receiving free or reduced lunch. My students come from many backgrounds. Many are English learners and speak Spanish, Korean, Bengali, Tagalog, Russian, and more as their first language.
My students are a bright, motivated and incredibly diverse group of middle school students.
I am inspired by their hard work and dedication to learning. In the face of challenges, they are very resilient.
As a language arts teacher, I want to bring my love of literature, writing and character development to my students as they navigate growing up in Los Angeles.
My Project
Help us get classroom basic supplies for our English language arts class.
Markers, pencils, poster paper and highlighters will help us mark up our textbooks!
These classroom basics will make a huge difference in our class!
Students annotate their textbooks, something I didn't learn how to do until I went to college! Bringing them fresh highlighters and pencils will allow us to analyze the literature we read in a fresh way!
Our trusty eight year-old pencil sharpener stopped working. This new one will help us sharpen our pencils and not disrupt instruction by having a dull pencil. Extra pencils will help my students not miss out when we are taking notes or annotating the text book.
