My students need 13 bibbers to start dressing like an authentic marching band.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The Tournament of Roses Parade and Football half-time shows with the band stepping proudly as they perform music and drills still give me chills.
As their teacher, I want to give them the best realist experience they can have about their newly acquired skills as a musician in a marching band, concert band and small ensemble. When you see bands on the television, you always see a certain style of clothing. The performers are dressed a certain way to express themselves as great musicians.
With the budget cuts for schools and the new emphasis on English and Math competency, band programs are not funded. Every instrument and progress made in this program has been from kind people donating and giving an uplifting hand. Sometimes, I feel like I am begging. I do not like asking for things that should be provided for the students. Yet, I cannot stand by and do nothing. As a teacher, my pockets are not able to give to all students each year, what they need financially. Therefore, I find myself asking again for help to give the children a memorable band experience.
This project will bring back the love for music and the love for each other as students learn how to work together to become someone special. Since music is feelings generated from a person’s heart through their instrument to the listener, students begin understanding the importance of every different instrument in a band and orchestra working together to produce joy to the listener. Students are learning to transfer that spirit of harmony to their life. They see the importance of teamwork and they want to look like a team.
I ask that you consider your impact on the students. I ask you to show your loving and giving heart by being the fireman who rescues these students. Allow yourself to see them in uniform, dressed to impress, and making a different in the lives of their classmates, school and family. Allow the student to see themselves through your eyes by contributing to their music education development. In years to come, when a student puts on any "bibber", they will think of you.
