This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The Mighty Trojan Band of Sour school in Texas has shown incredible growth in recent years. This year the students received the highest rating possible in all of their UIL contests and was awarded a sweepstakes for the first time in school history. With all of our success in recent years we are always striving to have as many students as possible participate in our program. Most of the time in the percussion section our freshman students start in Front Ensemble of the marching band with the hopes of being promoted to the drumline but need the experience of playing the mallet instruments before being ready to march with a drum.

This is a pinnacle year for these students!

Simply put, more instruments equals more student involvement. We want students to stay involved in school programs to motivate them to show up day after day and give their very best towards everything they do.

Mallet instruments in any front ensemble band program can range from $6,000 to $12,000. A Pearl Mallet Station is an electronic instrument that imitates all the aspects of a mallet instrument but for a fraction of the price. This will not only provide students with performance opportunities but also provide them with educational opportunities with technology. A part of playing this instrument the students will experience using an audio interface, DAW software and sound equipment. There are whole career paths that students can explore through this experience.
