Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are wonderful, hardworking, students that live in a low socioeconomic community in California. Even though they're up against the odds, they show up everyday eager to learn and work. My students are still at an age where they are passionate about learning and curious about the world. Being from a poor community, many of my students do not have all the materials they need to be successful. Unfortunately, our school isn't able to provide them with those materials because of budget restrictions. Many of my students don't have the basic materials to be successful because of their families' financial restrictions. I believe that students can only succeed if they have the right tools.
My Project
My goal is to teach my students the fundamentals of basketball. These basketballs are great for playing outdoors. Having these basketballs will allow me to teach my students how to dribble by doing fun and engaging drills. I will also be able to teach my student how to do bounce and chest passes. The balls will allow me to teach several kids how to shoot and do lay ups. Once my students pick up the skills, I will be able to have several games going at once. This will keep my students engaged and focused on learning the skill to be successful.
