Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Every March, I engage my English language arts students in a challenge: see how many books you can read in a month. Students are offered a variety of novel choices, curated to appeal to different interests and reading levels. I select the novels to appeal to a variety of reading interests, levels, and rigor; I also try ensure that the novels are diverse and allow for representation of protagonists and experience.

As students read, they engage in book group style discussion, write about their reading, and share their views with the class.

After reading each book, they rate them, and the book with the most stars wins March Madness
