This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are incredible young minds from low-income families who face numerous challenges but never let their circumstances define them. Despite limited resources, they strive for greatness every day. This year, I am requesting math flashcards to help increase their math fluency, which is crucial for their academic success now and in the future.

Math flashcards are a simple yet powerful tool that can significantly enhance my students' learning experience and prepare them for March Madness.

These flashcards will provide them with the repetitive practice needed to master basic math facts, which is essential for building a strong foundation in mathematics. With these flashcards, my students will be able to practice independently, in pairs, or in small groups, making learning both fun and effective. The immediate feedback from flashcards will help them quickly identify and correct mistakes, boosting their confidence and proficiency in math. Our goal is to host a school-wide March Madness initiative with students.

Our March Madness Goals are to:

Increase Math Fluency: Students will improve their speed and accuracy in basic math operations.

Build Confidence: Students will become more proficient in math, and their confidence will grow, encouraging them to tackle more challenging problems with a positive mindset.

My students are resilient, hardworking, and full of potential. They come from diverse backgrounds and bring unique perspectives to the classroom. Despite the economic challenges they face, they are determined to succeed and make the most of every opportunity. I love my students because they remind me of the power of perseverance and the importance of education. They show up every day ready to learn, support each other, and strive to be their best selves. Each resource we receive through this project will help them overcome barriers and achieve their academic goals, paving the way for a brighter future.
