My Project
March is the month of Basketball, please help our students that live in underserved communities. These students often do not have adequate access or no access to required life resources and equitable academic opportunities. You may ask, why basketball? It is popular, and fun, builds muscular endurance, improves balance and coordination, helps develop concentration and self-discipline, promotes teamwork, and builds stamina.
The goals for this project:
*Are to get basketballs in the hands of all students, so that they can begin to build fundamental fitness skills
*Oftentimes intermediate students fall into two basketball-knowledge categories: they believe they know it all or they believe they can’t learn. Both of these mindsets can impede learning and student growth. I want to help students revise this knowledge with examples of talented athletes who have continually worked hard to become skilled basketball players. We will learn how to set realistic goals, work hard toward them, and celebrate success.
*Academics can also be integrated into P.E, lessons using March Madness to implement reading and math skills.
These basketballs will make a difference for students. Please level the playing field and help us get these in the hands of students. We will greatly appreciate it.
