This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our students are too dependent on electronics. I have heard this from individual parents down to the media. My goal as a new social studies teacher is to teach my students how to use physical maps, graphs, and charts. We are losing our ability to use paper maps. I want my students to feel confident with maps and be able to use them daily. I am requesting a World Map Classroom Carpet, Reader's Theater: Cross-Curricular Set, Whisperphone, and more. As educators, we have been pushed to move towards technology, which is great, but I believe that it is also costing students to lose many necessary life skills.

Social studies is so important in creating an educated and well-rounded student.

The resources on my project will help me show my students that social studies can be fun and interesting.
