My Students
Do you remember what it felt like in high school trying to study for the all important test but not having the proper materials? My students feel like that trying to prepare for the AP Human Geography test. My students deserve the same opportunities to learn that other students have.
My students come from a variety of backgrounds including inner city homes without reliable sources of income, a few middle class homes and an orphanage sponsored by a state religious organization.
My Project
My students need sixty copies of Five Steps to a Five: AP Human Geography 2017 exam prep books.
Our class is a place where students prepare for life after high school and engage with content reflecting the diversity of their experiences.
We learn AP Human Geography! These AP students come from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and linguistic backgrounds; many will be first generation college students. For some, this class will be their first opportunity to earn college credit.
The stories of these students make for a rich environment, especially in a class like ours.
We use our classroom to learn not only AP Human Geography, but share future plans and ambitions. I hope the students find each other as motivating as I do, because they are hopeful and curious and extremely encouraging in spite of adversity.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
