Map It

My students need maps to better help them study the Western Hemisphere.

My Students

My students are eager to learn and experience the world through geography. We are a hands-on group that likes to be active and creative in our learning. We have been able to get supplies to help with this.

Now we are looking for a better set of maps than the ones we currently have to use.

Many of my students come from low-income households and struggle to buy the supplies that are needed for class. I want my students to be excited to come into class and not have to worry about whether they have the supplies needed for the day, but at times I am not able to provide these supplies either. I want my classroom to be the positive and open place they can come and explore the world. Being able to have access to new easy to read maps will help each student with practicing map reading as well as becoming familiar with where some of these places we are studying are compared to where their home is.

My Project

With the addition of these political maps, my students will be able to participate in more interactive lessons.

They currently only have access to the maps in their textbooks which do not cover all the required places that we have to learn about.

I plan to use these maps to help give the students an idea of where some of these places we are learning about are compared to where they are. I will also be able to increase map reading practices, something my classes desperately need. These maps will also be used to find different physical features that we can use markers to identify.
