Our Orchestra students love playing their orchestral music instruments. They eagerly look forward to attending orchestra so that they can play beautiful music and see and appreciate beauty in this world. Our orchestra is quickly growing and we could use a few more music stands.
Our students are in grades 9-12 at a public urban high school in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Their passion is music. For many, music is the one thing that they excel at. They are highly talented in music.
Our school has a 70% poverty rate. Most, if not all of our students would never be able to play on an orchestra or learn to play an orchestral instrument if it were not for the school orchestra. Our school is situated in the midst of five federal housing projects. It is our goal to provide this rich orchestral experience to as many students as possible.
My Project
Our students will use the new stands to be able to hold their music while performing. We only have wire music stands and these new stands will provide more stability while playing and will last longer. It will make our performances better knowing that the music will be held securely on stands that do not wobble or tip over.
This project will make a huge difference in the lives of our students because they will have quality music stands that won't wobble and tip over while performing.
It will provide a stable backdrop for their music. This will greatly enhance our performances and the self-esteem of our students.
The new stands are greatly needed for our rehearsals and performances. Our students will learn to play great orchestral masterworks, develop proficiency on an orchestral instrument, and make them smarter.
