Help me give my students a MINDSTORMS Education EV3 Core Set, Global Challenges Project-Based STEM Kits, books, a D pen bundle and other creative materials.
My students are learners, thinkers, engineers, and explorers. They enjoy STEM projects, and project based learning. They are always ready for a challenge and continue to learn along the way.
They make me so happy to go to work each day!
Seeing their eager faces and desire to extend their knowledge make my job the best in the world! I feel privileged to be able work with such motivated students who truly enjoy school. I am excited to see what the future holds for them!
My Project
Students will seek out manufacturing areas and career opportunities (i.e. metal, transportation, electronics/computers, petroleum, etc.). After reviewing the areas, students will work collaboratively in teams to research one of the areas of interest to them. Students will research items included, but not limited to: career readiness for a future in the profession, trade schools that provide options, what does a job in the field entail, ideas of what can help prepare now for the future, why is this a good career choice, and companies that offer opportunities.
In developing and engineering a module or lesson plan, students will be learning themselves about a career in the field and also creating some type of activity for others to learn about in the future of manufacturing.
On ways will go along with researching spacecraft and how it's manufactured. Students will then be directed to learn how different parts are manufactured in a manufacture career option. The Lego Mindstorms set will help students understand this better, along with the spacecraft book. They will also be able to use the 3D pen to engineer new design parts.
Another sample lesson/module students might develop and construct includes​ transportation. Students will research from the book chosen, and then decide what the future in transportation might be. They might decide to create an interactive game board (from the blank game bard and playing cards) with questions that relate to transportation.
A third possible module might include a STEM challenge in petroleum and how engineers and people that work in the field work towards preventing petroleum spills. This will be supplemented with book requested and the Global Challenges STEM kits.
