This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are eager to learn each and every day. They are loving, smart, fun, and energetic. They have unique ways of processing information in their juicy brains which motivates me to think outside the box for ways to maximize the learning.
My students are curious to get smarter and manipulatives can be used to challenge them in Kindergarten.
I want to give them the hands-on materials they need to be ready for basic math skills and phonics while keeping love in the center of their leraning.
My Project
The use of manipulatives will help boost students' critical thinking skills in phonics but especially in math. When students have physical evidence of their thinking in front of them their understanding will be more robust.
Manipulatives are used to make learning joyful, interesting, and easier to remember.
In kindergarten, learning needs to be fun and enjoyable, and manipulatives are the way to go. In math, manipulatives can be used to boost students' confidence when it's time to test and confirm their reasoning. In phonics, it can be used to help boost their recognition of word families, sounds, and rhyming words.
