Help me give my students the opportunity to succeed in math. Not all students learn the same, many students need visuals in order to understand math concepts.
Our middle school is embedded in a small town in rural Oklahoma. We have a school full of wonderful students who are eager to learn.
Many of our students have big obstacles to overcome on a daily basis.
Our school is part of a fantastic community, but as most of us know, to every good side there is a challenging side. Every day we teach students who have little to no help at home; either parents don't understand the material being taught or parents struggled themselves in school and are not equipped to help their children at home. As educators, we feel that education is part of the key to make a change in the future of the next generation. We want to give our kids every opportunity to learn at school in the classroom.
My Project
In middle school math we learn graphing on the coordinate plane, we use calculators, we learn Geometry and Pre-Algebra. All of these concepts can be confusing and abstract for young minds to understand.
With the graphing resources and calculators requested we will be able to give more of a visual to our students so they have more of an opportunity to understand the material.
Many students need multiple ways of learning a concept. Some learn by hearing and watching a demonstration, and some learn by doing. These resources will help give students the opportunity to do hands-on math instead of just paper pencil math.
