New Orleans in 1923 is the setting for our version of Cinderella. To create this world on stage, we need some properties or props and set pieces to help give our actors to assist them in our story. We need a gong, prop blade, prop food, candelabras, parchment paper, fake flame lamps, rechargeable batteries, prop flowers, two baby dolls, faux fish, foam pumpkins, and prop money.
The reason for us choosing this time period is because it mirrors some of the same issues that are relevant now such as women's rights, recovery after a pandemic, economic disparages of classes, and racial discrimination.
We will be having community talkbacks with these issues as well. It is important that students realize the importance of how the arts can help to impact and challenge other's world views.
