This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
I have really enjoyed working with the 5th-grade students at my school this year. I love watching their eyes light up when I teach them a new concept or have them build a model. I am a reading teacher and I'm trying to bring math to life with fun, engaging, hands-on activities each week for my students. I get so excited when I hear the children say, "Math is so much fun!" or "We love that you are teaching us reading and math!" It makes all of the planning and hard work worth it!
I am hoping to build my collection of games and hands-on activities so that the children can continue learning that math can be fun!
I want my students to walk away from my classroom feeling confident in their growing math skills and I want them to look forward to their next session in my room. Adding these manipulatives to my classroom will help my students build their number sense so that they can grow their math brains.
