I have a class of 25 wonderful 5 and 6 year olds. They are all eager to learn and excited to come to school every day.
My students come from a diverse urban community.
We have students from many different backgrounds and cultures including Brazil, Spain, Portugal, and Nepal. Our class also includes several mainstreamed Deaf students. It is a joy to watch all the students work together help each other to learn about the world they live in! I am so excited to see the social and academic growth of this group of children.
My Project
Kindergarten is a vital time in a child's development. They are learning so much about reading, writing, math, and developing fine motor and motor planning skills.
Classroom manipulatives will help my students grow academically and develop fine motor skills and motor planning!
Dominoes will help students with 1-to-1 correspondence, addition, fine motor, and turn taking. Scrabble letters will help with letter ID, spelling, and fine motor skills. Play-doh can be used across all subject areas, it will help with fine motor skills, and motor planning when figuring out how to make desired shapes. Ink pads and date stampers will give varied ways to access spelling and allow for more independence for students who are not yet able to clearly write their letters and numbers. Fidget toys, wooden puzzles, and water toys are great for kids who struggle to sit still. It allows them to have something to do with their hands while still attending to the lesson.
