We are in a small, rural community in a low-income/high poverty school district. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. We are an entirely free lunch school and many of our students rely on us for both breakfast and lunch.
Many students are not provided with life experiences many of us see as typical and we try to fill those gaps as much as possible.
They like to move and explore the world around them. I love it when they have an ah-ha moment and something clicks. They see something new and are filled with wonder. I am looking to provide my students with a creative and meaningful learning experience. I try to focus on their growth potential and encourage them to have a growth mindset. By doing this, I hope to inspire our earliest learners to love education and learning.
My Project
Manipulatives are tools that help students form a concrete sense of math concepts. These coins, pattern blocks, counters, and base-ten blocks will help my students have access to these manipulatives whether at home or in school.
Many students need tools to help their understanding of math.
Many of them do not have access to them at home. In school I must make sure they do not share materials as well. These tools will help make complete sets for students to work with at school and home so they stay safe during COVID!
