My students need Match-A-Sound Phonemic Awareness Boxes, Fun to Count Games Complete Set, Lakeshore Counting Cakes, Shape Sorting Cupcakes, and Math Smart Snacks Set.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach kindergarten in a CTT classroom as the special education teacher. My school resides in a high-needs community where 99% of the student population receives free/reduced lunch. The school has a very large special education population since it is one of the only in the area equipped to handle mentally delayed and physically challenged students.
Since many of the students I work with have special needs it is imperative that I am able to find many different ways for them to learn the same information as the general education population. All children learn differently and a teacher needs a variety of materials to use. Having manipulatives that are 3-demensional, realistic and interesting will engage the entire classroom and make learning fun. My classroom is not equipped with a variety of manipulatives. It is hard for me to differentiate (create different levels of learning) when I have such limited resources.
The many different counting manipulatives will engage the students and keep them focused. Students enjoy working with food and it is something that is relatable. Being able to hold objects and count them helps students reinforce counting skills. Students with special needs do very well with the use of manipulatives in any situation. The phonics center set is also a great way to use manipulatives in the classroom. This gives students a visual and a tangible item to describe, count and sound out. All of these tools will help students with language difficulties and will help increase their vocabulary.
Your help and kindness will make it possible for my class, and many other classrooms in the school, to learn through exploration and experience. The students who have the opportunity to work with your donations will gain the knowledge necessary to count, sort, spell, write and read. Your generosity will ensure a fun and productive school year.
