My Students
As a special education teacher teaching students with Autism, I see students daily who are faced with several challenges, both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, my students are eager to learn both academics and life skills in order to create for themselves a better life.
My students are eager learners that enjoy learning about the world around them and being involved in everyday activities.
My students have all been identified with high functioning Autism and are learning to navigate in the world around them. They are very intelligent students, with several also being identified as gifted, who enjoy the things every 4th and 5th grader enjoys.
My Project
These materials will assist my students in making concrete connections between what we are learning in class and real world applications.
As all of my students are diagnosed with Autism, having hands-on manipulatives assist them in learning concepts in a concrete manner.
The items requested will allow us to expand our math understanding of basic math concepts, spinners will be used in various ways to assist students in decision making skills, counters that can be used in a variety of ways, pattern blocks that help sharpen our reasoning and logic skills, and the differentiated blocks will allow us to change out information according to what we are currently learning.
