My Students

Today's generation is losing interest and pride in our nation and world. News has become boring and difficult for them to relate to. It's important that we instill passion and pride so our children grow up to be leaders and responsible beings of our planet.

Students at my school are survivors.

Not only have they been through a tornado that ripped through their neighborhoods, but also personal turmoil. We are a Title I school and have a low socio-economic community. Many of our students are left by themselves at night, some without food, and some neglected. There are also some kids who are not like this but they are becoming the minority. These kids have parents that work two jobs and are barely making ends meet. This is a very devastating reality for many students. We need help funding these magazines so parents are not troubled with the expense and students still have a opportunity to learn in this meaningful way!

My Project

The Scholastic Magazines will be used every month to engage and excite students to learn about the current events in the world today. There are several stories that are interesting, educational, and very helpful in teaching because they are easily read and understandable for students.

Since today's kids are not very interested in the world, politics, or current events, these magazines are going to engage them and encourage a love and passion for the world around them.

These magazines will also encourage reading for reluctant readers because they cover information in a fun way!
