My Students

I teach in a school where our motto is “It’s not about me, it’s about them.” At our school, authentic relationships with our students, families, and communities are the top priority. We strive to build, maintain, and grow these relationships so that our students know that they are valued, worthy, and have a safe place to go to each and every day.

No valuable learning occurs if there is not a valuable relationship.

It's amazing to see the things our students can do when they know that they are loved and have someone “in their corner” to always lift them up and cheer them on!

My Project

Reading is all enjoyment and learning things you may not have known before. It can take you to magical places, into tough and sometimes scary situations, and allows you to grow a bond with characters that have many different traits and backgrounds.

All it takes is one good book to capture a reluctant reader's heart, and I believe Maniac Magee will be that one book.

Maniac Magee will be used as a novel study in my fifth grade classroom. We will dig deep into the text and explore Maniac and his journey throughout the book, as well as the characters he impacts along the way. We will tackle tough skills as we read, using Maniac Magee as an authentic learning tool as we go along.
