Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our leadership students are developing an end-of-the-year reading event and incentive program to encourage students in our middle school and the neighboring elementary school to read more. We are seeking support to acquire a diverse range of manga books and stickers to be used as incentives for students who attend the event and achieve reading goals.

The leadership students will be designing posters and video announcements to build excitement for the service project.

On the day of the event, my students will create displays around the library, using popular books, such as the Manga books requested in this project. Members of the community who attend will be able to select their chosen book and read independently or with a group. The stickers requested will be given to any guest who reads for 30 minutes during the event.

By bringing these books to our library, we can get students excited to check out and read books during our event and in their leisure time. More importantly, this service project will help students in the community develop a love of reading.
