Manga, Graphic Novels, and Verse Help Readers Engage

Help me give my students a love for books. Many of my students love Attack on Titan and books told in verse.

My Students

I work with students who are learning English, students who are trying hard to read on grade level, and students who need reading opportunities. Many of my students come from families who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. At our school, we try to help students build social and emotional connections; reading novels builds compassion and empathy.

My students deserve an excellent education, and I'm trying to provide the materials they need to develop a love of reading.

My Project

Many of my students are just starting to build confidence with reading; graphic novels, manga, and novels in verse all help developing readers gain a love of reading. They will read these books in our classroom and be able to check them out and read at home.

Students need to see themselves in the books they read, and these books are by diverse authors with diverse characters.

We have a diverse student body, and these books will be used now and for years to come. Our entire class thanks you!
