Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am the librarian at a K-5 elementary school. We are a Title I school with approximately 400 students. Our students represent diverse backgrounds, cultures, families and academic abilities. I love getting to know each student by name and work to inspire each student wherever they are!
I am passionate about developing a love of reading within all my students!
I have worked to make our library a fun, bright and exciting place to be. When students come in to the library, their time with me is short but meaningful. I encourage and provide opportunities for working in partnerships, active engagement strategies and participating in inquiry-based thinking and learning projects. I love to see the excitement on their faces when they learn something new, make a connection, or find the "perfect" book!
My students have recently started loving anime and manga genres. They would love some books featuring these styles!
My Project
I am always looking for ways to foster the love of reading with the students at our school. So many of my upper elementary students ask every time they visit the library if I have any Manga or Anime books they can check out. I want to capitalize on their love of Anime and Manga by providing these books to my students.
Anime and Manga books will capture my students' interest while developing their reading and comprehension skills and grow their joy of reading.
I love to see the excitement on a child's face when they find a book they can't wait to read! I know my students will be thrilled to have so many anime/manga books to chose from.
