My Project

Students connect with social emotional books with engaging stories and colorful pictures. Author Mary Nhin does this and much more in her children’s social emotional wellness series Ninja Life Hacks. The Ninja characters in her books cultivate a growth mindset, develop confidence, and grit, and promote emotional intelligence (EI).

With the addition of these box sets on my counseling shelf, my students will be able to manage their big emotions, grow their leadership skills, and overcome life challenges with stories that provide effective strategies to improve their social emotional wellness.

I plan to read these books to the students individually or in groups. We will discuss the name of the Ninja character and the social emotional superpower the Ninja possesses. Each Ninja story provides an effective strategy students can begin implementing upon leaving my office. With these tools in their EI toolbox, students can manage their big emotions and overcome life challenges to improve their emotional wellness.
