Man, woman, or child? Can you identify the gender and approximate age from a set of bones? My CSI students can!
My CSI investigators are 7th and 8th grade students eager to delve into the world of forensic science.
Our CSI crime lab is one class that all the students hope to see on their schedule at the beginning of the year, so it is no surprise to see how excited and eager they are to solve the crimes when they enter the crime lab.
My Project
Our crime lab is so blessed (because of donors like you) to have authentic replicas of male and female skeletons and individual bones. In previous years, the students have graduated from just identifying the bones to analyzing specific characteristics and measurements to identify the approximate height of the individual, the gender, and approximate age. We currently have in the works to obtain two skulls of different ethnicity to add to our comparisons.
Now, we are asking for your help once again. The set of human child bones (humerus, femur, radius, ulna, tibia, fibula) will add diversity to the identification process. The comparative humerus set throws in another identification snafu in identifying bones with osteoporosis!
The authenticity and enrichment opportunities these bones will bring to the crime lab are invaluable.
Donors like you who have enriched our crime lab throughout the years are priceless! So. we come to you again to ask for help with creating and enriching more crimes to solve!
