My Students

My students at my school come from a variety of diverse backgrounds. They love to learn about the music and singing games of other cultures and share about the importance of music in their lives. They work hard in music class and are actively involved in their music learning.

My music students radiate creativity!

They love singing, dancing, and especially playing instruments. They are always looking for creative ways to make and share music. It is a pleasure working with them each day!

My Project

I want to provide my students with as many creative and instrument playing opportunities as possible to develop music skills and musical understanding.

My students love having access to Orff instruments in the music room, but we need more mallets in music class so more students can play at a time during rehearsals.

More mallets mean more playing time and more playing time means more learning! Currently, our music room only has 12 Orff instruments, and our class sizes average 25 students. With enough mallets for each student to play during class, I can provide every student with an instrument part for our end-of-year concerts. Students can then help create a music form and arrange the instrument parts for a meaningful accompaniment while their classmates sing. This reduces the use of audio tracks that students just simply sing along to. Students take ownership of their performance and have a meaningful, authentic music making experience.
